J. Daniel Graham
Proposal for St. Marks Church Garden
For the New Albany Bicentennial Public Art Project, Daniel will create a series of sculptures consisting of a combination of historical images of the area and it’s founding. The images will be created through a series of lines made of outdoor sustainable white vinyl and sealant, while the surface of the steel will be left to change with the elements over time. The image will change from a soft intimate image to an image of striking contrast over the course of its exposure. At one point in time when the steel begins to oxidize the white vinyl and the steel will be the same tone and the effect will be one of a subtle ghostlike image.
Graham's training in the Arts comes from an Undergraduate Degree at the University of Florida in Printmaking and a Masters Degree from the University of Georgia with the same emphasis. Between the two programs of formal education Daniel lived in downtown Washington DC and trained as a traditional furniture maker under woodworker Dennis Sitka.
Graham is currently a Professor at Georgetown College in Georgetown, Kentucky where he teaches a variety of course including Sculpture, Printmaking, 3D Design, Ceramics and Package Design.
