EARLY SETTLEMENT: St. Marks Church Garden is the site selected for an art installation interpreting the history of early settlement in New Albany. This site is located directly across from The Carnegie Center for Art and History. Selected artist for this site is J. Daniel Graham.
FLOODS: The grounds of the new YMCA building is the selected site for art informed by the 1937 flood.The river’s presence led to the birth of New Albany, its industry and its thriving commerce, but also the source of major disaster. The site is located next to the historic Scribner House and the Flood Wall. Valerie Sullivan Fuchs (pronounced fox) has been selected for artwork at this site.
INDUSTRY - GLASS: The River City Winery wall has been selected as an area to install a work of art interpreting New Albany's glass industry. The Winery is located in the award winning, restored Baer's Dry Goods building. The Heib Building, site of the first plate glass installation, is across the street. Selected artist for the River CIty Winery site is John King.
BREWERIES & TAVERNS: The New Albanian has been selected as a site for an art installation on Bank Street in downtown New Albany. The current brewhouse is open and operating - the photo shown here is the new addition on the north side of the building under construction. The selected artist for this site is Leticia Bajuyo.
UNDERGROUND RAILROAD: The site for the art work interpreting the Underground Railroad is in the downtown area - it is across the street from the location of the former Israel Boarding House, and near Second Baptist Church both are important Underground Railroad sites in New Albany. The lot is owned by Mike & David Futter, and the selected artist is Brad White.
